More Details on ‘Splatter Sisters’

In mid-May we first heard about director Adam Bhala Lough’s upcoming Splatter Sisters starring real-life couple Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood, and today we learned a bit more, including some plot details.

MTV recently chatted with Lough, who told them, “The story was conceived by me and my friend Seb, who manages Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. We first conceived of the idea in 2005…And then I spent the next four or so years just crafting the script and putting together the whole story. It’s about two 18-year-old beautiful drifter girls who go on a murderous rampage across California, killing scores of teenage boys. And they’re under mind control by the leader of this death metal band, this underground death metal band.”

Of course Manson plays Lars, the leader of said death metal group, and the plan is for him to assemble an actual band. “That’s what he hopes to do. The music is death metal, and Marilyn doesn’t usually play death metal,” Lough said. Manson wants the movie to feature authentic death metal, “late-’80s death metal to the core.” This potentially means putting a band together and touring it to coincide with promoting the movie. “I’m not exactly sure what it is yet and how it’s going to play out, but that’s kind of the central idea. We’ve got to get [Manson] trained on that voice.”

Lough hopes that production will begin soon. “We’d love to be shooting by the end of the year,” he said. “Both Manson and I kind of need to do this by the end of the year. Next year I’m sure we’ll be editing for the better part of the year. I guess timetable-wise, we’d have something by next fall.”

No other casting has been confirmed yet, but we’re sure Woods’ fellow “Splatter Sis” is going to be someone hot since, as Lough explains, “The girls are lovers as well as [being involved] with Lars himself. So it’s like a menage a trois. That’s our new twist on the whole ‘lovers on the run’ thing — there’s a whole menage a trois aspect to it.”

And there’s much more, too, such as Lough’s big picture plan to foster a new sub-genre, “Skinemax” as he calls it, so be sure to hit up the link to read all about it.

Evan to star in Hollywood slasher flick ‘Splatter Sisters’

Marilyn Manson is set to star in a Hollywood retro-slasher movie.

The shock rocker is to appear in the film Splatter Sisters alongside his fiancee Evan Rachel Wood.

It is the first in a planned franchise of sexploitation-serial-killer-slasher-road-movies inspired by horror classics in the 1980s.

Filmmaker David Gordon Green, who is currently producing Oliver Stone’s long awaited Wall Street sequel, revealed the project at Cannes, reports Variety.

“This is a role Marilyn Manson was born to play, and with Evan Rachel Wood bringing dramatic gravity to the ensemble, I have no doubt this will take the horror genre to a new level,” Green said.

Manson is a huge horror movie fan and he has been working on his own long awaited project ‘Phantasmagoria: The Visions Of Lewis Carroll’ with his fiancee since 2007.
